As small as the little town I grew up in is I love it. As I was driving around on a daddy-daughter morning with my dad earlier today (or I guess yesterday depending on how you look at it) -Side bar, I haven't been to sleep yet, I'm gonna catch Santa in the act ;)- anyway the sun was rising and I was thinking "it's so beautiful here". I never thought this. I never wanted to stay in Rome and live here. My parents have never lived anywhere else and small town life is what I love. Moving away to college turned my perspective in a complete circle. I would like to make it back here and I miss Rome when I am away. I don't really hang out with many people from high school anymore but there is something about being back that makes me realize how fortunate and lucky I am, how much I should enjoy Rome. Sure, had I stayed here like a lot of people I would also still be saying "I want out" or "omg Rome is so boring" (yes, I see those facebook statuses all the time). To each of these I respond to myself "what's so wrong with it". I guess I am growing up and am learning to appreciate the small things. All my memories are here and its home. No matter how far I go its always home.
Sure, the driving 20+ minutes to town (or anywhere important) for that matter gets old but thats because technically I live a little outside of Rome in a small community I live 60 miles from Atlanta (which is a good distance) and about 60 miles from Chattanooga, in my opinion the perfect location. Basically I love it here. People may think I'm crazy but to me its home and home is somewhere you should love. My favorite City, Rome!
